I have a degree in Interior Design from Ryerson University. During school, I lived with my grandparents in their home of 50 years. While I was there, my grandfather had numerous health issues and passed away soon after I completed university. I experienced first hand how hard it can be on loved ones to cope with illness, aging and death. My grandmother eventually moved to the same city that my husband and I had settled in with our children, and I was able to assist her in moving from her large family home to a small apartment in a seniors complex.

As an at-home mother with young children, I worked as a part-time caregiver to a senior with Alzheimer’s. I was with her for six years, during which time we became very dear friends. As the degenerative disease progressed, she needed to be relocated to a new home with increased care. Again, I was able to aid in the move, ensuring the new space felt like home for her.

Recently she passed away. Now I realize how deeply I had come to appreciate her age and stage. A heartfelt desire to help seniors while working in the field of interior design is exciting! I look forward to meeting your family and being a part of your lives.
